Akshay and Vidya play mission director Rakesh Dhawan and project director Tara Shinde, separately in Mission Mangal trailer, who alongside with their group of researchers, fill in as the brains behind one of the best mission ever: India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM).

Several posters of the film with the slogan, "Ek kahaani, jisne Indian space science ki paribhasha hi badal di have been released by the makers. The main starcast additionally features on the poster alongside a rocket.

Mission Mangal's teaser had received a huge reaction on social media. The film is directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal is co-produced by PadMan director R Balki. The film is all set to conflict with two other much-foreseen films this Independence Day (August 15) - Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Saaho and John Abraham's Batla House.
