Police Security Increased Outside Actor Surya's Residence Over 'Jai Bhim' Scene

The Vanniyar community has been criticising this film for a long time for hurting their sentiments and disrespecting the ethnicity.

Suriya, a well-known and seasoned actor in South cinema, is having trouble these days because of his film named Jai Bhim which was recently launched on Amazon Prime video, an OTT platform. Surya plays the role of a lawyer named Chandru in the courtroom drama.

The film Jai Bhim portrays the storey of prejudice based on caste. The Vanniyar community has been criticising this film for a long time for hurting their sentiments and disrespecting the ethnicity as a result of it the police is forced to enhance the security at the actor's house.

The state president of the Vanniyar community has sent a legal notice asking all the actors, producers of the film to apologise to the whole community. The actor is receiving other threats as well as the film showcases that tribal people are being tortured in the jails, the scenes like putting salts and chillies in the eyes, beating them to death, raping them and many more other scenes.

The vanniyar community has openly spoken their objection to the scenes of torturing in jails and asked all the actors to give a public apology and also asked to remove the scenes from the film.

Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Nagapattinam district secretary has announced a reward of 1 lakh for those who will attack Surya, the actor. 'Jai Bhim' directed by TJ Granavel, is produced by Suriya and Jyotika,s 2D Productions. It has been released on Amazon Prime Video OTT on 2nd November.

Since its release, the film has faced many controversies which include Prakash Raj slapping a person scene in the film but later he clarifies in an interview. On the other side, the audience is appreciating the film and it has received a 9.6 IMBD rating.

The Jai Bhim real story is based on a man named Rajakannu from the Irular tribe who was falsely framed in a theft case. The horrific death of Rajakannu due to the custodial torture was a challenging and landmark legal battle for K Chandru when the victim's wife Sengani (real name Parvathi) came to the lawyer for help.
