Designer par excellence from Assam, Sanjukta Dutta has added another feather to her cap. She has been selected for participating in an international fashion show - the New York Fashion Show on February 12. In the New York Fashion Show, all fashion designers of any consequence aspire to walk on the ramp. In case of Sanjukta, however, it is like breaking the glass ceiling as in this region of the country, opportunities do not come on their own. Sanjukta will showcase Assam fabrics in a global platform through international models of high repute and thereby promote our fabrics, proverbially known as 'Golden Thread' globally.
While speaking more about the New York Fashion Show, she said, "Here they are looking for designers who are working on different and exceptional collections from around the world. They always have 4-5 or seven designers to showcase a mix of culture. It is indeed an honour for me to have been selected for the New York Fashion Show." Indeed, Sanjuka walked a long way to get this opportunity and she has eventually proved time and again that people of this region are no longer the earlier kind who preferred to remain cocooned in a lonely corner avoiding public glare. They are now assertive, resolute, vocal and articulate. They have the ability to put their footprint in whatever areas that matter, be it sports, literature, films, cultures, and lately fashion also, stated a press release.
