Shaakuntalam Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu to Take One Year Sabbatical from Acting

MUMBAI: Samantha Ruth Prabhu plans to prioritise her health by taking a year off from work. The 36-year-old has spent the past year dealing with health challenges, but she has been committed to carrying out her professional obligations. Samantha has now made the decision to take a well-earned break in order to put her health first and get further help for her autoimmune disease, myositis.

On the other hand, Samantha’s publicist in a statement said that, “Yes, Samantha won't be taking on any new assignments for a whole year as she prepares to travel to the United States for treatment of her autoimmune disease, myositis. She might come back within six months if her condition gets better sooner than anticipated. However, she intends to take a yearlong hiatus.”

Samantha had a very busy year with no pauses at all, starting with the release and promotions for "Shaakuntalam" and continuing with back-to-back filming for "Kushi" and "Citadel." Prior to beginning new initiatives, she wants to concentrate on improving her health. Her big year will be 2024, when "Citadel" will be released, followed by other significant announcements.

Myositis is a rare disorder that results in muscular inflammation and a variety of symptoms, including weakness, exhaustion, difficulty swallowing, breathing difficulties, etc. Although it can result in other bodily parts being damaged, such as the skin, lungs, or heart, the main muscles to be impacted are those in the area of the shoulders, hips, and thighs.

After disclosing in late 2022 that she had been diagnosed with an illness called Myositis, an autoimmune disorder, Samantha made the decision to withdraw from the spotlight. She has been receiving treatment for this ailment and overcoming the difficulties it brings her every day. Samantha perseveres in the face of challenges and is tenacious in her refusal to allow her health condition define her.
