Shashi Kapoor Death Anniversary: Remembering the Legendary Actor

4 December marks the death anniversary of iconic Bollywood star Shashi Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor was born on 18 March 1938 in Kolkata and died on 4 December 2017 at the age of 79.

Friday 4 December adds another year of the death of legendary Indian actor and producer Shashi Kapoor who had a massive contribution to the world of Indian Cinema.

Throughout his long acting career, the charming actor Kapoor has worked in many Hindi films a total of 100 films and also produced his own films.

Shashi Kapoor was born on 18 March 1938 in Kolkata, India, and took his last breath on 4 December 2017 in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute, Mumbai. The veteran actor died at the age of 79 after suffering kidney failure.

For his brilliant performance in action, Kapoor has won many awards including two Filmfare Awards and four National Film Awards. He was also the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2014 and Padma Bhushan in the year 2011.

Notably, the actor has also appeared in numerous English-language international films mainly in those which are produced by Merchant Ivory. He also had a major role in being a theatre artist as his contribution in theatre included the establishment of Prithvi theatres in Mumbai along with his late wife Jennifer.

Shashi Kapoor had the beginning of his career as a child artist acting in movies such as Aag, Awaara and Sangam. He made his acting debut as a solo lead character in the film Dharamputra and after this started going on and on with new movies.

Some of the iconic and romantic movies of Shashi Kapoor are Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), Pyaar Ka Mausam (1969) directed by Nasir Hussain, Kabhi Kabhie (1967) directed by Yash Chopra, Haseena Maan Jayegi (1968) by Prakash Mehra and Deewangee (1976) directed by Samir Ganguly.

Shashi Kapoor was married to his co-actor and lover Jennifer Kendal and had three children. Jennifer was an English film actress and who appeared with Kapoor as an on-screen couple in many films.
