Social media singer Arya Dhayal brightens Amitabh Bachchan's days in the hospital

The 24-year-old hailing from Kerala has been mellifluously blending Carnatic and Western music in her videos shared on social media

Guwahati: When she sits down with her ukulele, one might assume that she is going to sing a pop song. However, she starts off with a Carnatic swara in raga Thodi. Suddenly, she brings a twist as she effortlessly transitions to sing 'Believer.' Thirty seconds later, she is seen singing a Kathakali padam (a song in Kathakali) in the raga Saveri.

All genres combined smoothly in a video of around two minutes' duration.

Singer Arya Dhayal has been effortlessly blending Carnatic and Western music for years but has lately gained more traction after Amitabh Bachchan praised and blessed the young talent. Sharing a video of Arya singing 'Shape of You' combined with swaras in Sudhadhanyasi raga, Bachchan, who is undergoing for the COVID-19 at the Nanavavati Hospital in Mumbai wrote on Twitter, "T 3605 - My music partner and dear friend sent me this .. I do not know who this is but I can just say "You are a very special talent, God bless you .. keep up the good work .. you have brightened my day in the Hospital like never before. Mixing Karnatak & Western pop.. amazing!"Replying to the star, the 24-year old singer from Kannur in Kerala wrote on Facebook, "I am above clouds. Never in my dreams did I imagine that you would listen to me singing. Love to you Amitabh Bachchan sir. Get well soon."

Since then, many celebrities have watched and appreciated her efforts. Her followers on Instagram and YouTube Channel have also increased at a rapid rate.

Arya is not just a singer. She is a composer and songwriter too. She released her first single 'Try My Self' which was written and composed by her. This was also a hit in social media. Although she is a Carnatic music singer for the last 20 years, she has picked up the lessons in Western music on her own.

The social media star initially rose to fame on social media in 2016 for a recital of the controversial poem 'Sakhavu' (Comrade). Arya is more passionate about independent music and dreams to be an independent musician in the future.
