CALIFORNIA: Google is sending email alerts to Google Play Music users, informing them that the Play Music data will be wiped out on February 24. Google has asked Google Play Music users to transfer their data to YouTube Music.

Google had stopped the Play Music service back in December 2020 but allowed users to store the data till the February 24 deadline. The tech giant informed that users' Google Play Music data such as purchases, playlists, stations, albums/songs saved to your library, and likes/dislikes will be cleared by the end of this month.

The emails sent out by Google said, "On February 24, 2021, we will delete all of your Google Play Music data. This includes your music library with any uploads, purchases and anything you've added from Google Play Music. After this date, there will be no way to recover it."

Google users can use Google Takeout to save their data.

Google had started the process of closing down Google Play Music in October last year. By December, the music service was officially shut down. Google had earlier planned to give users until the end of 2020 to either transfer that data to YouTube Music using the built-in tool or download an offline copy via Google Takeout.

Google also added that if users have already used the transfer tool, they can use it again to transfer every bit of data.

Google explained the process that users can use to transfer files from Google Play Music to YouTube music with a single click.

Google also plans to convert the Google Play Music subscription to an equivalent level of YouTube Music Premium or YouTube Premium, based on the level of benefits with users' current subscription.

To transfer data from Google Play Music to YouTube Music, users can visit https://music.youtube.com/transfer and click 'Transfer.'

Users can download the YouTube Music app, available on PlayStore for Android users and iOS for Apple users. The transfer process is fairly easy. Users have to click the 'Transfer to YouTube Music' button right in the centre of the page. On clicking this, you will automatically be led to a page where your music transfer process can begin if your account is linked.

User can also head to the YouTube Music app > Tap on profile picture > Settings > Transfer > Transfer from Google Play Music.
