Popular Indian singer Udit Narayan turns a year older today and celebrates his 66th birthday on Wednesday 1 December.

Udit Narayan has contributed the best Hindi songs to Bollywood and also sung in other languages including Bengali, Telugu, Nepali, Tamil, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Odia and Malayalam.

Throughout his 2-decade long singing career, Udit Narayan has made remarkable achievements by composing many songs and singing innumerable hit songs that are all-time favourites.

Narayan was born on 1 December 1955 in Supaul, Bihar and made his first debut song 'Mil Gaya' in the year 1980 in Bollywood playback in the Hindi film Unees-Bees and then struggled a lot for making his career in music.

He began singing as a folk singer after getting employed in Nepal Radio where he used to sing songs in Nepali and Maithili. During the 1990s and early 2000s, Udit Narayan became one of the most prominent singers.

Narayan has sung more than 15,000 songs that featured in various Bollywood movies and worked with great film personalities such as Salman Khan, Amir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgan and many others. He has sung songs with reputed singers like Bappi Lahiri, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar.

Narayan's contribution in singing led him to win many awards including five Filmfare Awards and four National Film Awards. He is the recipient of the highest civilian award Padma Shri in Arts and Padma Bhushan.
