LOS ANGELES: US reality TV star Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her husband rapper Kanye West, according to reports. They have been married for almost seven years. Kim filed for divorce reportedly citing "irreconcilable differences."

The multimillion-dollar worth couple is yet to release any official statement about the divorce. However, reports of their marriage falling apart has been doing the rounds for many months now.

Kim and Kanye began dating in 2012. Their first child, North was born in 2013. West proposed later that year at the empty waterfront ballpark of the San Francisco Giants. the two were married on May 24, 2014, in a ceremony at a Renaissance fortress in Florence, Italy. The couple has three other kids- Saint, Chicago and Psalm West.

According to reports, Kim has filed for joint legal and physical custody of the kids.

Notably, Kim's reality show, Keeping Up with The Kardashians is also coming to an end this year after 14 years of airing.

According to reports, Kanye spent the holidays in his ranch and not with Kim's family. The couple appeared to be estranged since 2020 after Kanye, in a now-deleted tweet alleged that he had been trying to divorce Kim as her family was forcing him to undergo psychiatric treatment. Kanye reportedly moved out of the family home in February.

Kanye, in 2020, ran an unsuccessful and controversial campaign for running in United States Presidential elections. His campaign was marked by a series of odd social media posts and public appearances.

In response to Kanye's behaviour, Kardashian took to social media with a statement on Kanye's struggle with mental health issues. She said Kanye suffered from bipolar disorder and urged the public and media to have compassion for the rapper.

"He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, experienced the painful loss of his mother and has to deal with that pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bipolar disorder," Kardashian said. "Those who are close to Kanye know his heart and understand his words sometimes do not align with his intentions."

Rumours and speculations surrounding their divorce came amid reports of Kim hiring a well-known lawyer Laura Wasser. Wasser is reportedly a celebrity divorce lawyer.
