You have to take it easy but you cannot let your guard down because getting infected and recovering from COVID does not mean you won't get it again

Sentinel Digital Desk

After recovering from the COVID-19 infection, most people want to get back to their normal lives. While some continue to be careful and follow all COVID protocol, some tend to let their guard down. This leaves the person at risk of getting re-infected by COVID or developing some other post-COVID complications. Do not forget that you have to keep working on your immunity.

Must-Do's Post COVID-19 Recovery

Here are some of the things you need to do after recovering from COVID-19:

Regular Exercise

Exercising might be troublesome in case you are recovering and your body is weak. Gradually bringing it to your everyday schedule will make you both physically and mentally healthy. You may do light exercises by just moving your hands and feet, light walk, and try jogging indoors or do some breathing exercises.

Have a nutritious eating routine

You need to have a nutrient and supplement-rich meal regimen to help speed up the recovery. Coronavirus opens the body to tons of stress and the medicines can debilitate your body. Few patients experienced weight loss or weight gain. Your food should contain organic products, vegetables, eggs, milk, and safe poultry to compensate for the lost appetite. You should have food that is cooked and simple to digest. A balanced diet high in calcium, vitamins, zinc, and protein is what the doctors have been saying.

Work on your memory system

The virus is known to damage your memory cells. In order to regain the lost attention, cognitive thinking abilities, and memory, invest some of your days' time in playing puzzles, memory games, and activities that you make you think harder.

Give yourself enough time to recover

Don't hope to jump back to your normal life routine right after you get back home or test negative for the virus. Give yourself enough time to gradually transition into your old everyday practice, taking each day at a time. Give yourself a pat on the back and a lot of credit for having fought one of the deadliest viruses of our times.

Focus on alarming signals, if any

Look out for headache or fatigue or any sense of discomfort that persists. You might have to consult your doctor as many COVID survivors have complained of post-COVID ailments. The best thing to do would be to stay in touch with your doctor.

Normally, it takes about 3 weeks for a COVID patient to recover but this is subject to the severity of the attack and the overall health condition of the patient. You have to be patient and rest a lot even after you have recovered. COVID has been found to cause extensive damage to the lungs, heart, and brain. Therefore, it would be wise to continue caring for yourself as you gradually get back to your normal life. But do not forget to mask up, do not forget hand hygiene, social distancing, and having a healthy meal.
