In a deadly landslide in Baybay city in the Philippines, an 11-year-old boy survived by taking shelter inside a refrigerator for 20 hours.
The teen boy identified as CJ Jasme was at his home with his family on Friday last week when the massive landslide hit the region of Baybay city.
Later after the storm, a rescue operation was conducted in the province of Leyte following which the rescue authorities found the boy lying inside a fridge.
According to reports when the mudslide approached Jasme's house he took the help of the refrigerator to take refuge and save himself.
He spent the whole day around 20 hours inside the broken appliance then the rescue team spotted the refrigerator on the bank of the river.
Police official Jonas Etis informed that the rescue team evacuated the 11-year-old boy and transferred him into a makeshift stretcher.
As informed by the rescue crew the child after being rescued uttered a few words and the first words he said were 'I am Hungry.'
Jasme was found in a conscious state but due to the mudslide, he has suffered a broken leg. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The boy had undergone an operation for his broken leg and currently, he has been receiving the best possible medical treatment as informed by sources.
Meanwhile, it is informed by police that Jasme's condition is stable at present.
However, the family members of the boy including his mother, father and brother are still missing after the tragic landslide that hit their place.
According to reports, the 13-year-old younger brother of Jasme has been successful in escaping the sudden storm.
It may be mentioned that around 172 locals in the area of Baybay have been killed following the landslide and nearly 200 people have sustained severe injuries.
Apart from this, more than 200 million people are forced to leave their hometowns for the fear associated with the storm.
