Kabul: These days, in Afghanistan a banned practice– the selling of young daughter into marriage has again risen in many parts of the country.

The families have been forced to sell off their daughters in exchange of money and sustenance.

As per the CNN reports, Parwana Malik, sold his nine-year-old daughter to a 55-year-old man last month. It is to be believed that his family barely managed jobs and struggling with hunger as after the Taliban took over, foreign aid had also stopped.

In an interview to CNN, Parwana's father Abdul Malik revealed that he had sold his 12-year-old daughter a few months back. The interview also revealed that he is forced to sell another daughter "to keep the other family members alive".

While speaking to CNN, Malik asserted that his daughter wanted to study and become a teacher, but due to family's poor financial conditions have closed the door for her.

Two days later, the buyer Qorban reached the Malik family's home, paid Parwana's father 200,000 afghani (about $2,200) in sheep, land and cash, and took the girl away.

There are scores of such families who though reluctant, are forced to 'sell-off' their daughters or marry them off to fend for their remaining family members.
