Biden Announces Ban On Russian Oil, Gas And Energy Imports

New Delhi: Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, global leaders have been imposing sanctions on the former and recently Joe Biden, United States, President too has decided to ban Russian oil imports to the US.

Biden, on Tuesday, made this announcement that the country will ban all Russian energy and Oil and gas imports to the United States.

Putting a ban on Russian gas, oil and energy the United States is targeting the main route of Russia's economy which would lead to great loss for the Russian federation.

The US informed that the decision of this ban on imports from Russia is unilateral by the country on one-sided without any involvement of the European allies and partners.

The US President also said that the country is moving ahead with the ban on Russian gas and oil and energy imports without European allies by understanding that at the present situation they may not be in a position of joining the US in this decision.

He also added that the US through this move aims to directly target a key route of Russia's economy which would be a great step in responding to Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine which is killing civilians and a large section of refugees.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom also hints about taking action over the Russian invasion of its neighbouring country as the UK government stated about its plans to phase out Russian fuel imports, its latest sanction is against the administration of Vladimir Putin.

Notably, before the start of the Russian attacks on Ukraine, its oil and gas made up more than 3rd of the government revenue. The country is the number one exporter of oil and natural gas across the globe.

However, following its conflict in Ukraine Russian oil and gas exports have been subjected to international financial sanctions but until now the energy exports in Russia are free from obligation.
