'Footprints on Water', Starring Adil Hussain, Adjudged Best Debut Film at NYIFF

Adil Hussain was put forward as a contender for the top actor accolade at the NYIFF 2023 for 'Footprints on Water', which triumphed in the category of best debut film.

GUWAHATI: On Thursday, reports surfaced that the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) has honored the movie 'Footprints on Water' with the 'Best Debut Film' award, in which the internationally renowned actor from Assam, Adil Hussain, played a role.

The NYIFF declared the news on their authorized Twitter account on Wednesday, “Celebrating an Extraordinary Journey! Footprints On Water wins the prestigious title of "Best Debut Film" at NYIFF, as acclaimed by the Film Critics Circle of India. This captivating masterpiece has left a lasting impression, stirring hearts with its profound storytelling and mesmerizing performance.”

Actor Adil Hussain expressed his gratitude and congratulated the rest of the crew and wrote, "Absolutely Delighted and thrilled to announce that Our Film #FootPrintsOnWater wins the Best Debut Film at the @nyindianff #NewYorkIndianFilmFestival2023 Big Congratulations to Director @nathalia_syam and the entire Cast & Crew"

Previously, the acclaimed performer Adil Hussain received a nomination for the top actor prize at the NYIFF 2023 for the aforementioned movie that secured the best first film accolade.

‘Footprints on Water is a forthcoming English film helmed by Nathalia Syam and starring Adil Hussain, Nimisha Sajayan, Lena, and Danny Sura in principal roles. The British flick narrates the story of an “unauthorized foreigner father residing in the UK, who searches for his vanished daughter while dodging the surveillance of the police.”

Adil Hussain has contributed to Indian cinema, encompassing parallel cinema and popular Bollywood, as well as global cinema. Some of his noteworthy projects incorporate – ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ and ‘Life of Pi’.

In the year 2021, the adaptable performer was honored with the Best Actor Male Award at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival. He was granted the award for his part in the movie "Raahgir". Additionally, he was given the National Film Awards (Special Jury) at the 2017 National Film Awards for his work in Hotel Salvation and Maj Rati Keteki.

Adil has also appeared in movies in various languages such as English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Norwegian, and French.
