Guwahati: A Pakistani media reported that India's most wanted terrorist Jaish-e-Mohammad's Chief Masood Azhar is alive after the rumour being spread on Sunday that Azhar was dead due to his ill health.
The media reports claiming that JeM Chief Azhar is dead are false and the report came amid rumour on social media that Azhar is dead due to his ill health.
According to sources, it has been informed by his family member that he is alive and didn't elaborate further about his health condition.
However, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry while asked about the media reports claiming Azhar's death.
It has been reported that Azhar was suffering from liver cancer and was undergoing treatment in a Pakistan hospital.
Earlier it was informed by the Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is unwell and is in Pakistan. Azhar was the mastermind of the biggest ever terror attack of February 14 at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir that left more than 40 CRPF jawans martyred in the suicide bomb attack.
But now that the rumour has spread about his death in the social media, Pakistan Foreign Minister said that he was unaware of Azhar's health condition.
Masood Azhar who is a resident of Bahawalpur in Pakistan's Punjab province formed the Jaish-e-Mohammad in the year 2000.
Azhar was also the mastermind of 2001 Parliament Attack, suicide attack on Jammu and Kashmir state assembly, attack on Pathankot IAF base and the recent Pulwama suicide attack. In 1999, Azhar was released by the NDA government in exchange of hostages of the hijacked Indian Airlines plane IC- 814.
Meanwhile, according to Jaish Intelligence sources, Azhar has been shifted to a Jaish camp at Bahawalpur by the Pakistan Army from the Rawalpindi base hospital at around 7.30 pm on Sunday.
After Azhar has been moved out from the Rawalpindi base hospital, Jaish lashed out the Imran Khan government accusing it if bowing to pressure from India and the international community.
However, the Indian officials said that they had no information about Azhar's death other than his treatment that he was undergoing at an army hospital.
It was in last week that the US, UK and France have moved a fresh proposal in the UN Security Council to blacklist Azhar as a global terrorist which will subject him to asset freeze, global travel ban and arms embargo.
