BUCHAREST: According to sources, controversial social media personality Andrew Tate was detained in Romania on Friday along with his brother Tristan Tate as part of an investigation into a human trafficking case.

The raid's conclusion was reportedly brought about by the DIICOT, or Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism in Bucharest.

His residence was raided on Thursday in connection with the kidnapping of two girls, according to Sport Bible, citing the Romanian news outlet Libertatea.

According to the reports, Tate, who is well-known for his contentious behaviour on social media, had a career record of 76 wins and nine losses in kickboxing.

The Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and the social media personality recently engaged in a heated Twitter argument that later went viral.

Tate, who is well known for his numerous misogynistic statements, started the dispute by tagging Thunberg in a tweet about his 33 vehicles and their emissions, which increase pollution, according to the sources.

"Hello @GretaThunberg I have 33 cars. My Bugatti has a w16 8.0L quad-turbo. My TWO Ferrari 812 competizione have 6.5L v12s. This is just the start. Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions," a tweet read by Tate.

Sources claim that he is no longer allowed to access Facebook and Instagram, among other social media sites, as a result of his inflammatory remarks.

Additionally, Greta Thunberg hit back with a sharp retort and wrote, "yes, please do enlighten me. email me at smalldickenergy@getalife.com," a tweet reply by Thunberg.

Many commenters were pleased with Thunberg's response since they relished making fun of the influencer for his remark.

According to insiders, Tate has repeatedly come under fire for his statements that women should "bear responsibility" for being sexually assaulted, for downplaying the intelligence of both sexes, and for equating women with property.
