New Delhi: Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, a high ranking Russian officer, Major General Andrei Sukhovetsky, has been killed in fighting in Ukraine last week.
Sukhovetsky was the commanding general of the Russian 7th Airborne Division.
According to reports, his death was confirmed by a local officers' organisation in the Kransnodar region in southern Russia.
However, in what circumstances he got killed is yet to be ascertained.
Sukhovetsky was appointed as the deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District last year.
Speaking on the same with Fox News, Volodymyr Omelyan, Ukraine's former minister of infrastructure said, ''The fact is, we killed him."
Presently, Russian army is wreaking havoc in Ukraine and reportedly it has also hit Ukraine's nuclear power plant which caught fire in the attack.
Russia has taken most parts of Kharkiv under its control. Following the war, there has been a lot of damage to life and property as many buildings and vehicles have been badly damaged.
French President Emmanuel Macron believes that "the worst phase is yet to come in Ukraine" in Russia-Ukraine. Macron's opinion came after a 90-minute conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
According to reports, an aide of the French President said that during the talks Putin expressed his intention to occupy the entire country.
