MUMBAI: According to her manager, American singer-songwriter Madonna had to be hospitalised with a "serious bacterial infection" and had to postpone her world tour.

On Wednesday, Guy Oseary, the singer's manager, posted on Instagram that Madonna had spent several days in an intensive care unit after becoming ill on Saturday. According to Oseary, the 64-year-old singer is anticipated to fully recover.

Due to this, Madonna has decided to delay the beginning of her Celebration tour, which was originally scheduled to begin on July 15 in Vancouver. With stops in 43 cities, the globe tour is in recognition of her 40-year musical career.

She would stop in a number of cities during the tour, including Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Denver, Atlanta, and Boston, according to another report. The first leg was supposed to end in Las Vegas on October 7.

Meanwhile, Madonna's manager added that information regarding the new dates would be made public soon.

In 2020, in her "Quarantine Diary," Madonna disclosed that she tested positive for COVID-19. The 61-year-old singer wanted to "breathe in the COVID-19 air" and planned to take a long trip this weekend in response to her results.

Seven-time Grammy winner Madonna has enjoyed success with songs like "Like A Virgin" and "Material Girl" during the course of her four-decade career.

According to a press release, Madonna's "The Celebration Tour" will take viewers on a tour of her artistic career spanning four decades and pay tribute to New York, the city where her musical career got its start.

A promotional video pays homage to the iconic artist's 1991 movie Truth Or Dare. Along with other celebrities including Diplo, Judd Apatow, Jack Black, Lil Wayne, and Amy Schumer, Madonna appears in the five-minute clip.
