New DELHI: The international terror outfits congratulating Taliban for taking over Afghanistan have raised serious concerns not only for India but for other central Asian countries, experts have observed.
Describing the Taliban's takeover of the war torn country as emancipation of Afghan, the Al-Qaeda In Arabian Peninsula (AQIP)has issued an statement on August 18 said, "This victory and empowerment reveals to us that jihad and fighting represent the (Islamic law)-based, legal, and realistic way to restore rights (and) expel the invaders and occupiers."
Some other terrorist groups have joined with Al-Qaeda such as Hayat Tehrir Al-Sham in Syria and Turkish Islamic Party in western China have also issued statements on the Taliban victory in Afghanistan after the hardline Islamist group seized Kabul on August 15, 2021.
The experts also feel that this new alignment can revive the militancy worldwide, therefore, this was a right time to rejig in the counter terrorism policy and a strong mechanism to prevent their activities was the need of the hour.
Reacting to the Al-Qaeda's support to Taliban, the former research scholar from Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses and Delhi University Prof Sanjeev Shrivastava said that Al-Qaeda has been very happy over the new development in Taliban and with their support, they will recreate the terror infrastructure.
"The major terror attacks in the last two decades were executed by all these terror groups including the 09/11 attack on the USA. After the Islamic hardliners seized Kabul, these organizations' terror outfits will flourish once gain", Shrivastava said.
The terror incidents across the central Asia and Indian sub-continent will rise and India should be on high alert as the intelligence agencies have also sounded alerts to the government after August 15, he added.
The West Asia expert Qamar Agha said that with the emerging nexus will be a big threat which will affect the central Asian Republics as well as the Kashmir and other parts of India.
Taliban belongs to Deoband Tahreek School of thoughts which has been prominent in Central Asian countries, Indian Sub- Continent and the statements issued by these terror outfits clearly exposing the nexus between them, Agha further said.
AQIP group has been very active in the Arabian Peninsula and other parts of the Arab world and both of them together, may have a devastating impact on the world peace order, he added. The "Haqqani network" which Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists reportedly fight alongside was responsible for the 2008 bombing of the Indian embassy in Kabul
The Al Qaeda-Taliban has a deep network in central Asia and when they came to power in 1996, the Taliban-ruled Afghanistan became a major base for training international terrorists who executed major terror attacks in the world including the 9/11 strike on the twin-towers in New York. The Taliban had also sheltered Osama bin Laden and his deputy Ayman al Zawahiri in the past. (IANS)
