'Tick-borne virus' leaves at least 7 dead and 60 infected in China

Guwahati: At a time when the world is still combatting the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, another virus has emerged in China that has caused great concern in the middle kingdom.

In a recent development, a new infectious disease has once again surfaced in China, where the coronavirus is also said to have originated.

This new disease is reportedly caused by a tick-borne virus and has killed at least seven people and infected 60 others in China, local media reported on Wednesday.

As per reports, a woman from Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu, who suffered from the virus, showed onset of symptoms such as fever, coughing.

Notably, doctors in China found a decline of leukocyte, a certain blood platelet, inside of her body. Following a month of treatment, the infected patient was discharged from the hospital.
