SINGAPORE: In a heartbreaking turn of events, the co-founder of Goila Butter Chicken, Vivek Sahani, took to social media to share the tragic death of his mother, Reeta Sahani. The 64-year-old Indian woman went missing from a luxury cruise vessel while on a trip to the Strait of Singapore from Penang, Malaysia.

Vivek's father, Jakesh Sahani, woke up one morning to find his wife missing from their cabin. Devastated and seeking answers, Vivek accused the cruise staff of alleging that she had jumped overboard, but they had not provided any evidence to support this claim. The lack of a rescue operation added to the family's anguish and sense of helplessness. Determined to seek justice and answers, Vivek reached out for urgent help from the Indian High Commissioner, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and the Ministry of External Affairs.

The outcry on social media prompted the Indian High Commission in Singapore to take immediate action. They assured Vivek and his family of all possible assistance and support. The High Commission also reached out to the Singaporean authorities to address the situation and facilitate legal procedures.

On Tuesday, Vivek provided an update, confirming that his mother had tragically fallen from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship. The revelation that she couldn't swim made the incident even more distressing for the family. Despite the tragic news, Vivek expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they received during this difficult time.

"They didn't carry out any rescue operation and off-boarded my dad. Is this even humane? Requesting urgent help from the high commissioner of India, mea and Dr Jaishankar ...pls help @DrSJaishankar @MEAIndia @PMOIndia," he tweeted on July 31. "Please help us!! The way @RoyalCarribean has acted in this whole episode is not acceptable. Need your intervention," Victim's son urged.

The High Commission of India in Singapore continued to extend its support, contacting the Indian head of the Royal Caribbean cruise company to ensure cooperation in the investigation. They emphasized their commitment to standing by the family throughout this period of grieving.

Meanwhile, the Singapore Police Coast Guard and the Republic of Singapore Navy joined forces to conduct a thorough search operation. The search covered the Singapore port waters and the Singapore Strait, a busy shipping route spanning 113 kilometers in length and 19 kilometers in width between the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea.

As the investigation unfolds, the family seeks closure and justice for their beloved mother, wife, and sister. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures and thorough investigations in the cruise industry.

In conclusion, the tragic incident on the luxury cruise vessel in Singapore has left the Sahani family devastated. The untimely death of Reeta Sahani has prompted an outpouring of support and cooperation from both Indian and Singaporean authorities to uncover the truth and provide solace to the grieving family.
