New Delhi: US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, expressed admiration for India's National Security Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval, during a roundtable event in New Delhi on Tuesday, June 13. Garcetti praised Doval's vision for the country and drew comparisons between him and US NSA Jake Sullivan.

Garcetti highlighted Doval's humble background as a village boy from Uttarakhand, stating that he had not only become a national treasure but an international treasure as well. He commended Doval for sharing a similar vision with Sullivan in terms of changing the course of the century. Garcetti's remarks came as part of a discussion on the "Advancing India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET)."

During his two-day visit to India, Sullivan met with Ajit Doval to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest. Sullivan was accompanied by a delegation of senior US government officials and leaders from the US industry.

Garcetti also expressed his confidence in the strong foundation of India-US relations, emphasizing the genuine warmth and affection between the peoples of both countries. He acknowledged the positive developments taking place in India, which US President Joe Biden was pleased to observe.

Looking ahead to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Washington, D.C., Sullivan mentioned that the agenda included removing obstacles in defense and high-tech trades, as well as promoting better collaboration among scientists and researchers from both nations.

Garcetti shared his recent experience of having dinner with multi-faith leaders in India, where he encountered individuals from various religious backgrounds, including Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Christian, and Muslim. He quoted an amusing remark made during the gathering about India having something more powerful than 4G, 5G, or even 6G technology—referring to the concept of "Guruji," which resonated with the audience. Garcetti emphasized the importance of integrating values and intelligence into their work, suggesting that this approach would make them unstoppable.

Sullivan's visit to Delhi, accompanied by the US delegation, occurred ahead of Prime Minister Modi's upcoming state visit to the United States. The discussions and engagements aimed to strengthen bilateral ties, foster collaboration in critical and emerging technologies, and address obstacles hindering cooperation in defense and high-tech trades between the two nations.
