Vivek Murthy, an Indian-American to lead Coronavirus Taskforce of US President-elect Joe Biden

Dr. Vivek Murthy, an ex-US Surgeon General would lead a team of health experts who will advise Biden on the deadly virus.

Dr. Vivek Murthy, an Indian-American was named as one of the three co-chairs of the COVID-19 Advisory Board who will advise President-elect Joe Biden on handling the coronavirus pandemic on Monday.

As currently, The US is the world's most affected nation from the virus, Biden said, "The advisory board will help shape my approach to managing the surge in reported infections; ensuring vaccines are safe, effective, and distributed efficiently, equitably, and free; and protecting at-risk populations".

Dr. Vivek Murthy has served as the 19th US Surgeon General from the year 2014-2017. Dr. Vivek Murthy successfully happened to be one of the top advisors of Joe Biden on public health and coronavirus issues during the Joe Biden Campaign period.

Dr. Beth Cameron and Dr. Rebecca Katz are serving as advisors to the transition of COVID-19 and will work closely with the Advisory Board while Kessler is a former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner.

President-elect Biden has pledged to focus and bring leadership on the COVID 19 pandemic, which is constantly claiming thousands of lives each week, only by curbing the spread of the disease, providing free treatment to those in need, and raising the voices of scientists and public health experts.

The COVID-19 Advisory Board will help in guiding the Biden-Harris Transition in planning for the President-elect's strong federal response, the media release said.
