KOLKATA: A Twitter user shared photos of a wedding invitation of a 30meter ruler that was used to print the wedding menu, photos went viral on social media.

It is from a wedding in 2013, as shown on the ruler, and it has a list of the dishes served to the guests. Fish, fried rice, mutton masala, and mango chutney were among the items served. The feast was for Sushmita and Animesh's wedding in Siliguri, West Bengal, and the menu card was certainly unique (as mentioned on the ruler).

The images were uploaded on Twitter by user Stereotypewriter. The viral pictures generated different discussions on social media.

Foodies have flooded the comments section with fond memories of visiting weddings without fear of a pandemic. Many users were interested in the use of a ruler to print wedding menus.

"Please don't use it to strike if someone wants to eat more," one Bengali user joked. Another user wondered if the ruler was for weighing their food. He was, of course, referring to tummy measures. "These scales used to scare us as kids," claimed another user.

West Bengal has a practice of creating unique menu cards for weddings. In February of last year Gogol Saha and Subarna Das, newlyweds from the city, captured the attention of the internet after their innovative wedding food went popular on social media. It was inspired by and created in the same way as our own Aadhaar card.

The pair lives in the city's Rajarhat neighborhood. Gogol Saha is a sales and marketing employee, whereas Subarna Das is a healthcare worker.

The wedding meal, which was first released on Facebook, quickly became a success online and was shared on a variety of social media platforms. The menu featured starters such as Chicken Lollypop, Crispy Baby Corn, Coffee, and others, followed by main course items such as Mutton Kasha, Rasogolla, Sandesh, and others, all of which followed the same template as the standard Aadhaar card.
