Like every year, even this year IIFA awards 2018 will be a blast. The much awaited award function of the year is due to begin today in Bangkok, Thailand. Seems like now, even a few other stars have opted out of the event at the last moment.
Recently, a source has confirmed that actor Shahid Kapoor, who was planned to perform at the huge event, has pulled out of the event due to his severe back injury. It was during an outdoor shoot in Tehri, Uttarakhand, that the actor injured his back while shooting for his upcoming film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu. After returning to Mumbai, he immediately started preparing for his performance at this year’s IIFA, but unfortunately, he suffered a back spasm and was advised for bed rest by the doctor.
However, today the Mid Day report, while confirming the sad news said: “Despite suffering a major back injury while shooting in Tehri last week, Shahid continued filming as he was required to wrap up the movie by mid-June. After returning to Mumbai earlier this week, he promptly dived into the dance rehearsals for his IIFA gig. It was while attempting a tricky step that he suffered a back spasm and was advised against any strenuous activity by the doctor. Although Shahid was scheduled to fly out to Thailand last night, he called off the plan. The IIFA organizers were fairly understanding about it.”
Further, the source also revealed that Shahid’s spokesperson has also confirmed the news.
On a similar instance, even actor Vaani Kapoor, who was also scheduled to perform at the event, too, will skip the function due to a hamstring injury which occurred during her practice sessions for her dance routine. However, the news was confirmed by a daily TV report.
