Vaastu Tips for Money

Sentinel Digital Desk

Everyone wants to have sufficient money in hand so that all the ends are met. Almost everything costs money and it is the constant need for us. People work hard to earn money to support the family and self. But it is seen sometimes that despite all the hardwork, some people are not able to achieve success and they cannot save money when it matters the most. For example, one may land up spending a lot of money for treatment which erodes the savings.

Vaastu defects can cause financial problems which are beyond someone's control. We will discuss what can cause financial problems and how to rectify them.

1. The Swastika is a very powerful and lucky symbol. The BOVIS Scale for measuring positive energy has found that the Swastika has the highest energy in terms of positive vibrations. It is extremely good to have two swastika symbols drawn with sindoor (vermillon) on both sides of the main door. This prevents negative energy from entering the house. The Swastika also brings progress and prosperity to the house.

2. The Tulsi (Basil) plant is regarded very highly by the Hindus as they consider it as an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. It is very auspicious to keep this plant in the house and light earthen lamps with ghee in the morning and the evening. This also reduces ailments and financial worries.

3. There is an indigenous method of warding off negative energy. A Sankh, Gomti Chakras, cowri shell, coriander seeds (dhania) and piece of chandan(sandalwood) should be wrapped in a red cloth and hung on the main door.

4. Stagnant energy or accumulation of negative energy can create conflicts among family members. They should be removed by mopping the floor with rock salt or sea salt with water. Sprinkling gangajal mixed with turmeric on a Thursday also works wonders.

5. If you are not successful in your efforts, blow the Sankh aloud in the morning and in the evening. The sound of the conch shell dispels negativity.

6. The north direction is ruled by Lord Kuber. Keeping a statue , photo of Lord Kuber at North is very auspicious . A Kuber Yantra is excellent here.

3. The cashbox should be kept at South or West facing the North or East

4. The place of worship or puja should be kept at Northeast. The drinking water should also be kept at Northeast

5. White, cream or lighter shades of orange and yellow should be used for offices, shops or factories. Dark colours are not suitable for business.

The shankh is said to be the brother of Goddess Lakshmi because both were born together when the cosmic ocean was churned (Samudra manthana) for Amrit (elixir of immortality) by devatas.

Certain items forbidden on the rooftop

It is a common practice to keep unused items on the rooftop or terrace for paucity of space. But if this is not done judiciously, vaastu defects may arise and negative effects start without the realisation of the residents. Let us see which the things that can cause vaastu defects:-

1. Rusty iron items should not be kept on the terrace. Unused rods, tins, broken bikes etc should be disposed to the scrap dealers. Rahu creeps in these items.

2. People do gardening on the terrace nowadays. For this buckets and empty tins are used. Make sure that these are not broken or kept empty. NEVER plant saplings in a broken bucket.

3. After any construction, there are some building materials left over. Bamboo is one of them. NEVER keep bamboo on the terrace because it may bring unforeseen problems. DO NOT keep brooms on the terrace. The broom is a favourite item of Goddess Lakshmi because it is an instrument for cleaning and she likes cleanliness. By keeping the broom on the terrace Ma Lakshmi is displeased.

4. It is common for tree leaves to accumulate on the rooftop over time. They should be removed and cleaned from time to time. Rotting leaves can hinder progress.

Reader queries answered

I have got some posters for my son's room. One is a beautiful picture of the countryside with a spring. Another one has the setting sun on top of a mountain range. Where should I keep them ?

N Ahmed, Jorhat

I will not recommend any of them. As water features should not be kept in the bedroom, the picture of the countryside with spring should not be kept too. There is a difference between the rising sun and the setting sun. The setting sun symbolises the end of the day. It will not be good for your son.
