MUMBAI: The traffic control room of Mumbai Police received a threat call from a person, who is yet to be identified, warning of a terror attack similar to the 26/11-one if Pakistani woman Seema Haider did not return to her country from India, an official said.

The call was received by the Mumbai police on July 12, he said on Friday.

The caller, speaking in Urdu, warned that there would be a terror attack like the one that took place in Mumbai on November 26, 2008, and that the Uttar Pradesh government will be responsible for such an incident, the police official said.

The caller was referring to the dark day on November 26, 2008, when a group of 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives made a coordinated attack in Mumbai, which killed 164 people and injured several others.

Mumbai Police has taken the threat call seriously and is investigating it and the help of a crime branch team has also been taken with the job, he said.

The call was reportedly made through a mobile app, and the IP address of the caller is being tracked down by the police, the official said.

The woman Seema Haider, who is a Pakistani national, entered India illegally recently to get married to her lover Sachin Meena, a resident of Greater Noida. It is said that the two had met and become friends while playing online game PUBG.

The Pakistani woman, aged around 30 years, and her 25-year-old Indian partner, were arrested by the police for her illegal entry and stay in India. However, they were granted bail by a court in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida last week when they pleaded their love for each other.

On July 4, the in-love couple of Sachin and Seema confessed in front of the media and police about their love for each other. They appealed to the government to allow them to get married and stay together in India.

Last year also, Mumbai Police had received text messages that warned of a 26/11-like attack on Mumbai city. The traffic wing of Mumbai police received several text messages sent on its helpline number. The messages threatened that a "26/11-like" attack will be made in the city by six persons and that preparations were on to blow up the metropolis.
