NEW DELHI: The Delhi Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia, has been detained in connection with an alleged violation of the city's liquor excise policy, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared that, on Monday, rallies will be held across India in opposition to this.

Sandeep Pathak, the national general secretary of AAP, announced the demonstrations on Twitter. They are expected to occur in a number of cities, including Delhi, Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Rohtak in Haryana, and Noida.

Pathak posted on Twitter on Sunday, saying, "Manish Sisodia, the outstanding education minister who has moulded the destiny of thousands of youngsters in the nation, was detained in a fabricated case. The Aam Aadmi Party will demonstrate tomorrow against this across the nation."

Around 12 p.m. on Monday, the party will hold protests outside the Bharatiya Janata Party's headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in the nation's capital.

It is anticipated that the party will also stage demonstrations in Gandhinagar, Gujarat; Rohtak, Haryana; Noida, etc. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained Sisodia following an eight-hour interrogation session over the now-discontinued excise policy case.

The Delhi deputy chief minister had previously asserted that bogus charges were brought against AAP politicians because Prime Minister Narendra Modi was concerned about Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's increasing popularity.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, condemned the arrest as "dirty politics" and reaffirmed that Sisodia was innocent.

He asserted that the arrest was a part of a larger pattern in which the BJP had been fabricating cases against AAP leaders as the party's support increased.

The AAP's plan to protest on Monday comes in the wake of harsh criticism of how the Modi administration handled previous farmer rallies in Delhi.

There has been significant condemnation of the administration from civil society organisations and opposition parties for allegedly deploying disproportionate force against protestors and silencing dissent.
