Guwahati: We are living in a society where "body shaming" has become the norm due to an established standard of beauty. If you are a woman, you have no doubt been subjected to numerous cat calls and insults on the streets. Moreover, it has become commonplace to ogle at women's private parts, no matter how uncomfortable it makes them feel. Needless to say, these experiences are absolutely humiliating for womenfolk in India who have often expressed concerns about their safety.

Some online videos have become viral now as the pandemic has forced teachers and students to resort to online classes. A young female teacher teaching Geometry classes recently became victim of such sexism when she was insulted on social media, with lewd comments being made about her body and looks.

Screengrabs of some of these comments have now started doing the rounds on social media, and it throws a light on the sexist nature of our 'boys' locker room' society.

"I love circles," one user wrote. "I am in class 12th, Commerce but Circles are so important," wrote another.

Urvik, a Twitter user, came across these snaps and uploaded them along with the caption: "This teacher is trying to teach through online platforms, she is working hard for her students and these mfs are objectifying her, these society is literally fucked up by these creeps, even on the social media women are not safe."

Twitter is now up in arms after some of the 'creepy' comments made about this Geography teacher started doing the rounds on social media, with many questioning the mentality of these students and why no punitive action is not being taken against them.

"Not a new thing anytime a women posts anything on youtube or any social media , dives in those creepy men to comment shit and bodyshame her. Hats off to the girl who keeps going even after so much," wrote a Twitter user, reacting to the creepy comments, while another questioned why these accounts are not being suspended immediately by those in power.

There were others who pointed out that working women go through this kind of behaviour in real life in their working spaces all the time.

Another Twitter user said that parents must start begin sensitizing their children at a young age. "Even the parents should be held responsible, basic values of respect, decency should be taught to kids at a young age to prevent them from being creepy perverts later in life," he wrote.
