Amid Festive Season Delhi Police Nab Pakistani Terrorist

The accused was living as an Indian national by the name of Ali Ahmed Noori, a resident of Shastri Nagar in the national capital.

New Delhi: In a major development, the special cell of Delhi Police has arrested a suspected Pakistani terrorist, who was planning an attack in the national capital during the festive season.

The suspected terrorist named Mohd Ashraf alias Ali is a resident of Punjab province of Pakistan and was arrested by the special cell from Laxmi Nagar area of New Delhi on Tuesday.

Speaking on the same, the Commissioner of Police Rakesh Asthana said that it's a good catch by special cell ahead of the festive season. He also said that a big terror plan has been foiled by Delhi Police team.

The accused was living as an Indian national by the name of Ali Ahmed Noori, a resident of Shastri Nagar in the national capital.

The terrorist was well-equipped to execute his plan to attack in the national capital as AK 47 rifle, two magazines with 60 rounds, one hand grenade, and two pistols with 50 rounds of cartridges were recovered from his possession.

Reportedly, he has been arrested under relevant sections of the UAPA Act, Explosives Act, and Arms Act.

On September 14 also, the Delhi Police had busted a Pakistan-based terror module and arrested seven suspected terrorists, including two people who were trained by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

According to reports, Delhi police busted a Pakistan based terror racket and nabbed six persons including two people Javed and Zeeshan who had taken training in Pakistan.

Delhi police's special cell had received information that major terror attacks were being planned in some cities of the country following which the police department swung into action and arrested the six persons on suspicion.

As per a media report, two teams were formed by the terrorists and one of the teams was being coordinated by Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees Ibrahim. Two of the terrorists had even gone to Pakistan and took training in a warehouse.

All the six terrorists were produced before a court and remanded to police custody for 14 days. In March this year, one municipal councillor and a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir were killed in a terrorist attack at Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.

According to details, a Councillor identified as Riyaz Ahmad, an SPO and a civilian were injured in the terrorist attack. The injured were moved to a hospital where the Municipal Councillor and the SPO were declared dead. Additional police parties have reached the spot. The area was later cordoned off and an operation was started to nab the assailants.
