Amid Rising COVID Cases, Gujarat Govt Cancels Investors Summit

The decision was taken after the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the COVID-19 situation in Gujarat on Thursday.

New Delhi: In the wake of rising COVID cases in the country, the Gujarat Government has cancelled the Vibrant Gujarat investor summit which was slated to be held on January 10.

The decision was taken after Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the COVID-19 situation in Gujarat on Thursday.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the Chief Minister Office (CMO) of Gujarat confirmed the same and tweeted, '' CM Shri @Bhupendrapbjp has decided to postpone the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022 for now, as a precautionary measure in the larger interest of the state and its citizens, in view of the rising trend of COVID-19 cases in the state, country and across the world''.

However, it didn't mention any details like when the summit will take place again. Meanwhile, according to a national news agency report, the summit will be held on January 12.

Around 27 countries have agreed to participate in the summit. Apart from these, more than 17,000 individuals and 7,000 companies have registered for the summit and in a bid to popularize it; the Gujarat government has held roadshows in various countries.

Earlier, in 2019, the ninth edition of the biannual summit was held in 2019 and the tenth edition was delayed by the COVID-19.
