GUWAHATI: Bharatiya Janata Party Assam has commented on the Supreme Court's decision against the minister of the Delhi Government and warned the Aam Admi Party against defaming the chief minister of Assam.

The Assam BJP has warned the Aam Aadmi Party not to engage in any propaganda against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and the BJP-led state government of Assam. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia held a press conference in New Delhi alleging that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and other members of his family were involved in a massive scam in the purchase of PPE kits.

After the press conference, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma filed a defamation case against the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. The Delhi Deputy Chief Minister did not appear in the Guwahati court himself despite receiving the summons and appealed to the Guwahati High Court and later the Supreme Court seeking a squash from the entire case. But on December 12, the Supreme Court rejected the petition of the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and strongly condemned him for not appearing before the court.

The court also remarked that Manish Sisodia must suffer the appropriate consequences in due course for his involvement in this low-taste propaganda. Quoting the court's statement, state BJP spokesperson Kalyan Gogoi warned the Aam Aadmi Party not to do cheap and low-level politics. He said the people of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh have already rejected the cheap politics of the AAP and the people of Assam will also politically support the AAP in the upcoming elections. The BJP spokesperson said the people of Assam have already understood the AAP's campaign process.
