NEW DELHI: According to a notification released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regarding the list of bank holidays, there will be 16 holidays in the month of January 2022 for banks in India including the weekend offs.
The RBI notified the holidays for all the private and public sector banks located in various regions across the country. But apart from the holidays declared by the centre, the banks will also remain closed during state holidays depending on the particular state they are located in.
On the fourth Sunday and second Saturday, the banks will be shut down as holidays.
According to the list provided by the Reserve Bank of India, there will be nine state-wise holidays in the current month of the new year and there will be four days as weekend offs. The banks will remain open on the third and first Saturdays of every month of this year as per the list by RBI. During the month of January, there are no national holidays except on 26 January due to Republic day.
To avoid any inconvenience with bank transactions it is important for people across the country to keep a note regarding the bank holidays in the beginning month of the new year 2022.

11 January 2022: Missionary Day
12 January 2022: Birthday of Swami Vivekananda
14 January 2022: Makar Sankranti (Many states)
15 January 2022: Pongal (Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu)
18 January 2022: Thai Poosam (Chennai)
26 January 2022: Republic Day (Across India except for Chandigarh, Bhopal, Agartala, Imphal, Bhubeneshwar, Jaipur and Srinagar)
