Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's 'Janata Ke Durbar Mein Mukhyamantri' outreach programme did not really pan out the way the CM would have liked it.

It is because a member of the staff who was involved in catering arrangements tested positive for Covid-19 along with 14 other visitors who came to meet the Bihar CM.

The Bihar CM announced this while speaking to the media after the conclusion of the meeting and also hinted that the state might decide to re-impose restrictive measures so as to contain the spread of the virus.

"It is a matter of concern, indicative of the incredible rate at which the numbers of cases are rising," said Nitish Kumar.

Reportedly, the visitors of the 'Janata Ke Durbar Mein Mukhyamantri' outreach programme are mandated to undergo the covid tests.

The Chief Minister's secretariat went into a frenzy after the reports of the swab tests came in.

It is to be noted that the 'Janata Ke Durbar Mein Mukhyamantri' outreach programme is held at Chief Minister's secretariat every Monday.

The Bihar CM said, "The existing guidelines will remain in force till January 5. But tomorrow when officials will meet to review the situation they will definitely take into consideration the sudden rise and come out with orders accordingly."

He also informed about his plan to visit Gaya on 4 January as part of his 'Samaj Sudhar Abhiyan.'

He further went on to say that a decision will be taken about future events in due course.

Bihar reported its first Omicron case a few days back and the CM stated that the third wave of Covid-19 has already begun in the state and thereby urged people to remain vigilant.

It is to be noted that the number of daily Covid cases continues to increase in the state with the number of active covid cases standing at 749.
