The Bihar assembly witnessed a political slugfest in the aftermath of the tragic incident that happened recently, where opposition leaders launched an attack on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on the large number of deaths caused by spurious liquor.

The Nitish Kumar government had clamped a liquor ban in Bihar on April 6, 2016.

On the arrest of main accused of the Bihar's Chapra hooch tragedy, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar commented, "Govt is keeping a close watch. We've been investigating this case right after the incident took place. Majority of people are in favour of liquor ban. I've ordered to take strict actions against the accused."
