NEW DELHI: The BJP has reorganized its four state units by appointing new party leaders ahead of the crucial assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the nation.
In addition to appointing Sunil Jakhar as the party's state president of Punjab, the BJP also appointed G Kishan Reddy as its state president of Telangana, D Purandeshwari as its state president of Andhra Pradesh, former chief minister Babulal Marandi as its state president of Jharkhand, and Sunil Marandi as its state president of Andhra Pradesh. In preparation for important state elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party has implemented organisational changes. Jakhar formerly held the position of state chairman for the Congress in Punjab.
The Telangana Election Management Committee has appointed Eatala Rajender as its chairman, according to BJP. Telangana elections are expected to take place later this year. The other states that will be holding elections are Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. The BJP will also concentrate on Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Bihar because they account for a sizable portion of Lok Sabha seats.
The party would concentrate its ministerial and organisational changes on these states. Prior to this, PM Modi presided over a lengthy meeting of his council of ministers, which increased rumours of a cabinet reshuffle in light of the NCP's split in Maharashtra. The NCP's split in Maharashtra is seen as part of a larger strategy to undermine the opposition's efforts to unite against the BJP.
In the midst of a flurry of meetings presided over by BJP president JP Nadda, Union home minister Amit Shah, and general secretary B L Santosh, the party announced reforms. The declaration was made the day after PM Modi presided over a Council of Ministers meeting in Delhi.
The party has made reforms to start getting ready for the vital Assembly elections that will take place later this year as well as the much awaited 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
