New Delhi: Indrani Mukerjea, accused of killing her daughter Sheena Bora, has said the CBI is reluctant to probe her claim that "Sheena is alive" to cover up its "shoddy investigation" in the case.

Recently, Indrani had submitted an eight-page application before a special CBI court claiming that Sheena Bora was alive. Indrani had urged the CBI to direct an inquiry into the matter.

According to Mukerjea, she met a woman named Asha Korke, who told her that in June 2021, she had met a young woman, who looked like Sheena Bora in Srinagar.

However, last week, the CBI had submitted a written reply, wherein, they refused Indrani's claim. The CBI had said that Mukerjea's application had no merit and it was filed with the intention of delaying the trial of the case.

Indrani Mukerjea, through her lawyer Sana Khan, on Thursday filed a reply to the CBI's reply.

"The CBI's response lacks merit, it is full of malpractices and full of misleading and false representations, assumptions and conjectures with a clear intent to suppress the truth. The reluctance of the CBI to interrogate Asha Korke is nothing but a clear indication of a "malicious intention" to cover up her "shoddy" investigation in the case,'' Indrani, in her reply, said.

Mukerjea's reply further stated that the CBI probed the matter in the most "unprofessional" and "shockingly shoddy manner" to the detriment of the petitioner (Indrani), who is completely innocent.

She also claimed that the CBI had misled the court and was still trying to create prejudice against her.

Indrani Mukerjea was arrested in 2015 along with her husband Peter Mukerjea and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna in connection with the murder of their daughter Sheena Bora.
