NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched a postal stamp commemorating India's achievement in manufacturing an indigenous covid-19 vaccine, marking the one-year anniversary of the country's vaccination drive.
The stamp represents the incredible job done by the country's frontline and healthcare professionals, as well as the scientific community, in saving people from the pandemic according to Mandaviya
"This is a historic moment for us since a postal stamp is being issued to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the world's largest COVID-19 vaccination program, which began on January 16, 2021, in India. Over 156 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been delivered in less than a year. "he stated
In India, 93% of adults have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, with 93% receiving the first shot. The vaccination campaign began on January 16 of last year, with healthcare personnel being the first to be vaccinated.
Mandaviya, speaking via video link at the commemorative postage stamp issue event, said it is a proud time for Indians and that the world is surprised by the country's Covid immunization effort. "Despite such a large population and diversity, India has been able to attain the milestone of administering over 156 crore doses," he remarked.
The hallmarks of India's Covid reaction are proactive, preemptive, and a graded whole-of-government and of-society approach. Previously, the process of vaccine research to vaccination distribution for the general public took several years, but thanks to Modi's innovative leadership; it was accomplished in just nine months, according to Mandaviya.
"Our Prime Minister has always supported our scientific community, and the rapid development of indigenous Covid vaccines is a result of his firm belief," he added.
Bharati Pravin Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health, praised the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Bharat Biotech team for inventing the indigenous vaccine in such a short time and claiming that it has gained worldwide approval.
Devusinh Chauhan, Union Minister of State for Communications, stated on the occasion, "I applaud the Department of Post for taking the initiative to issue postal stamps on Covaxin. For all of us, today marks the one-year anniversary of India's vaccination campaign. I applaud all of the frontline personnel for their dedication."
