New Delhi: The longest Chandra Grahan (Lunar Eclipse) of the century has begun. This is the last lunar eclipse of 2021, which will be seen in some parts of eastern India. The duration of this partial lunar eclipse will be about 6 hours 2 minutes.
On this occasion, the door of the Kamakhya temple in Assam will be closed at 3:00 PM.
A Chandra Grahan is a astronomical position when the Moon comes in its shadow just behind the Earth. This can happen only when the Sun, Earth and Moon are located in this sequence in almost a straight line. Due to this geometrical restriction, a Chandra Grahan can occur only on a full moon.
Earlier on February 18, 1440, there was a partial lunar eclipse of such a long duration. Now a partial lunar eclipse of such a long duration will take place on February 8, 2669.
The Partial Chandra Grahan (lunar eclipse) will be seen Arunachal Pradesh's northern parts while penumbral lunar eclipse will be seen in some districts of Bihar, UP, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.

According to the Varanasi Indian Hindu calendar, the last and longest Chandra Grahan of the year will start on Friday on Kartik Shukla Purnima, November 19, 2021 at 12:48 pm and will end at 4:17 pm. The main duration of the lunar eclipse will be 3 hours 28 minutes and 24 seconds.
It will be seen a few moments in India's northeastern states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, while people in foreign countries like America, Australia, East Asia and Northern Europe can also see the amazing view of the lunar eclipses.
The Chandra Grahan 2021 will be auspicious for Zodiac signs like Libra, Aquarius and Pisces, while on the other hand it will be inauspicious for Aries, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio.
It is believed that the Chandra Grahan occurring today will be the longest lasting partial lunar eclipse after 580 years.
