Changed Your Phone Number? Do These to Update Your Aadhaar Card

If your old phone number has changed or discontinued, the OTP of Aadhaar will be sent to your old number. Here’s what you need to do

Aadhaar card has become one of the most important documents to get all the necessary facilities and government schemes in this age of digital transaction. It is difficult to get the benefit of any facilities or government schemes without Aadhaar and without this, you will not be able to file income tax returns as well.

The most important thing, your mobile number needs to be updated on the Aadhaar card to take advantage of all the facilities because when you want to do any work through Aadhaar, its OTP (One Time Password) is sent on the mobile phone and for this reason, updating mobile phone number is mandatory.

If your old phone number has changed or discontinued, then the OTP of Aadhaar will be sent to your old number. And if you want to complete the process through the old mobile number, then you will not be able to do that.

How will you update your mobile number?

Here are the steps you need to know:

1. Visit a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.

2. Fill the Aadhaar Enrolment Form.

3. Mention your mobile number in the form.

4. Submit the form to the executive.

5. Authenticate your details by providing your biometrics

An Aadhaar Card is a 12-digit unique identification number that is considered an essential document for proof of identity and proof of address. It is also required for availing various government subsidies and benefits. It is of utmost importance that your Aadhaar Card is updated to avoid any delay.
