Child Trafficking Racket Busted, Children Sold at Rs. 50,000 Just to Beg

In the police interrogation, the traffickers revealed that they buy a child for Rs. 50, 000. Later, they made the children beg.

GUWAHATI: In a shocking revelation, two women child traffickers, who have been arrested by the Maharashtra police, confessed that they have bought and trafficked children to make them beg.

In the police interrogation, the traffickers revealed that they buy a child for Rs. 50,000. Later, they made the children beg.

Police busted the racket and arrested the women from Aurangabad district. Police suspected that more people could be involved with the racket and continue investigation basing on the revelations made by these two arrested women.

The arrested also revealed that they chose impoverished family children to traffic.

Earlier in Assam, Rangia based 24 Bn SSB carried out an anti-human trafficking operation at Rangia Railway Station with the help of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Hrishikesh Sharma, Commandant, 24 BN SSB Rangia informed that on the basis of input received from source, three persons, including a minor girl and a woman with the 5-year old boy were rescued.

Trafficker Gautam Sarkar of Malda in West Bengal was also apprehended. The rescued persons belong to Dongargaon and Guabari village under Tamulpur PS in the Baksa district. The rescued persons and the trafficker were handed over to GRP Rangia for further investigation.

As per initial interrogation, the trafficker was taking them to Malda from where they were likely to move to Pune. The 24 Bn SSB Rangia has rescued 50 persons and arrested nine human traffickers from different places of Baksa and Rangia.
