Civil Aviation Ministry Allows Airlines to Bestow Meals and Magazines On All Domestic Flights

NEW DELHI: In the midst of the present crisis of covid 19, the ministry of civil aviation on Tuesday permitted that airlines can now serve meals, magazines, newspapers in all flights. Due to the coronavirus pandemic hit the world, the service for meal or reading materials were previously prohibited for short haul flights.

The ministry order stated that the airlines, operating flights on domestic flights may provide meals without any regards to time. It is decided to restart meals and magazines since the covid casload has decreased as a result of good application of acceptable protocol according to the statement.

As the covid 19 pandemic was on at its peak the government stopped all the airlines flyway then with the decreasing cases and recovering scenario the ministry allow the flights and lately also increased the capacity on a regular basis based on the health situation and passenger traffic at airports.

When the second wave came in the country, the prohibition on serving foods on flights of less than 2 hours was introduced in April of 2021. Food was allowed on aircraft with a voyage time with a condition that the tray, plates were all disposable and none were reused. The order came in the limelight when the Indian Council of medical research (ICMR) raised concerns about the passengers removing masks while eating their food. Sanjeev kapoor the former chief strategy and commercial officer tweeted that the revenue loss is a way small sacrifice in regard of people health.

The decision to provide meal and reading materials will give a relief to the passengers, yet some restrictions are still not passed on international flights.
