New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Salman Khursid's new book has sparked a row for comparing hindutva with the jihadist Islamist groups like ISIS and Boko Haram.

Anguished over this comparison, two lawyers Vivek Garg and Vineet Jindal from Delhi have filed complaints with Delhi Police against the Congress Veteran leader Khursid for allegedly defaming the Hindutva.

The book titled 'Sunrise Over Ayodhya' launch event was held on Wednesday. The book is based on the Supreme Court (SC) verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.

Congress senior leaders P Chidambaram, Digvijaya Singh among others attended the launch event.

"Sanatan Dharma and classical Hinduism known to sages and saints were being pushed aside by a robust version of Hindutva, by all standards a political version similar to the jihadist Islam of groups like ISIS and Boko Haram of recent years," a chapter of the book titled 'The Saffron Sky' reads.

Vivek Garg in the complaint stated that the kind of language used in the book reflects the mindset the party as they are legitimizing such radical elements of ISIS by creating an artificial equivalence with Hindus.

''His statement printed in his book is itself self-explanatory and clearly discloses his commission of the cognizable offence. The language, intention of the said book authored by the alleged accused, is an open case of sedition, conspiracy to wage the war against India, promoting enmity between Hindus-Muslims, etc," he added.

On the other hand, the Jindal in his complaint asserted that it's a defamatory statement for the whole Hindu community.

"The contents of the book claiming Hinduism to be equivalent to ISIS and Boko haram is a quite aggravating and defamatory statement for the whole Hindu community and also questions their values and virtues about society,'' Jindal's complaint read.
