Raipur: The coronavirus and the resulting lockdown barged like an unwelcome guest into the lives of 1.3 billion Indians as all activities were brought to an absolute standstill. Students of the nation could no longer go to their schools and due to poor internet connectivity, online classes are not a feasible option for many. In such a situation, Chattisgarh teacher Rudra Rana has caught the nation's imagination for his innovative way to teach students who do not have access to online classes.

Rana came up with a remarkably innovative solution to take education to the doorsteps of students who either do not have the means to attend online access, or live in remote locations where internet signal is bad.

To impart education to students, Rudra Rana, who hails from the Koriya district of Chhattisgarh, goes around in a bike with a blackboard and chalk to conduct 'mohalla' classes for students in the area.

His novel concept soon caught the attention of locals and he has now been hailed for his initiative. In interactions with media, Rana said that since students cannot go to schools due to the ongoing crisis and many do not have access to online education, he is going door-to-door to teach his students.

Armed with his blackboard, Rana sets up his classroom right on the streets and students happily join in. Rana and the students also maintain social distancing during the classes, as per the government-prescribed norms to mitigate risk.

Rana's initiative has earned his praise of the locals who have lauded him for his noble work and dedication towards his profession. Dedicated and passionate teachers like Rana are doing everything they can to make ensure that the learning continues despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. He certainly deserves applause for his noteworthy contribution towards society in these tough and uncertain times.
