COVID-19 May Become More Severe from January 23, Warn Experts

In such a gloomy situation, a section of experts warned that the COVID-19 infection may become more severe from January 23 in the country.

NEW DELHI: The COVID-19 situation in India turns grim by the day as the number of infected people has been rising exponentially since the beginning of the current year.

Several states of the country including Maharashtra, Delhi, Jharkhand, among others have tightened the COVID-19 rules.

In such a gloomy situation, a section of experts warned that the COVID-19 infection may become more severe from January 23 in the country.

According to experts, the number of infected people may cross 7 lakh.

Meanwhile, the country reported over 2 lakh new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The death toll also crossed 300 marks compelling the governments to take more stringent steps to tackle the situation.

The situation in Assam, too, has worsened as the number of infected persons is increasing. As many as 2,709 fresh Covid-19 cases were detected in the state today. The positivity rate in the state is 8.99%. Five died of the virus today. In the Kamrup (M) district, 912 cases were detected. The recovery rate is 95.85 per cent.

On the other hand, Delhi reported over 18 thousand COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

According to reports, the current COVID-19 waves also hit children in the country, unlike its previous two waves which have turned a major cause of concern for health experts.
