Decomposed Body Found Hanging From Tree On JNU Campus; Delhi Police Begins Probe

The body was found in the jungle near Yamuna Hostel when a couple of students had gone for a walk in the jungle where they sensed a foul smell and alerted the authorities.

New Delhi: A decomposed body was found hanging on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus, reported ANI quoting Delhi Police.

The Delhi Police said that the age of the deceased is somewhere between 40-45 years and added that the body is highly decomposed which indicates that the man died several days ago.

According to reports, the body was found hanging from a tree in the JNU jungle on the evening of June 3. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained and an investigation has been launched to look into the matter.

The police went on to say that they were informed about the body at around 6.30 pm on June 2 and the crime and forensic teams were summoned to the spot for examination.

As per reports, the deceased was not a student of JNU and the body was found in the jungle near Yamuna Hostel when a couple of students had gone for a walk in the jungle where they sensed a foul smell and alerted the authorities.

Earlier, a student sustained severe injuries after a bathroom ceiling collapsed in the university hostel of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. The incident took place on 14 April in the Sabarmati Hostel inside the JNU campus.

The student was immediately rushed to the nearby Safdarjung Hospital after a part of the ceiling collapsed and fell on him.

The injured youth had been identified as a second-year student of BA (Bachelor of Arts) in German languages as informed by a senior university official.

The official confirmed the incident and stated that because of dampness in the ceiling it collapsed and fell on the boy inside the bathroom.
