Delhi: Former IAS Son Arrested In GK Hit And Run Case, Father Too Booked

However, the police identified the car and seized it on February 8, but the accused were absconding but police caught them later.

New Delhi: A 27-year-old law student has been arrested in the hit and run case in South Delhi's Greater Kailash 1 on Tuesday.

His father, a retired IAS officer, has also been booked for allegedly harbouring his son.

The incident occurred at 6 pm on Tuesday and CCTV footage purportedly shows Raj driving the newly purchased vehicle and dragging the victim on the bonnet for over 100 metres before the man falls to the road and the car drives off.

The police had earlier registered a case of rash and negligent driving, but after scanning the CCTV footage and further investigation, sections of attempt to murder and culpable homicide not amounting to murder were added against son Raja Sundaram (27), while father P. Sundaram was booked for sheltering the accused.

DCP (South) Benita Mary Jayakar said that at around 6 pm on February 8, Greater Kailash police station received a hit and run call in GK-1. Police came to know that a speeding car hit Anand Vijay Mandelia (37).

As per the Delhi Police, the boy driving the car did not stop the car, and kept dragging for about 200 meters and later he fled with the car. The injured was admitted to Max Hospital, and he was not in a condition to give a statement.

The police had registered a case of road accident in view of the medical and circumstances.

The police further added serious sections to the trial after seeing the victim dragging her on the bonnet of the car, going through the statements of eyewitnesses, CCTV footage and post-accident conduct of the accused.
