Delhi: Woman Dragged for Several Kilometers After Accident

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident reported from New Delhi, a 20-year-old woman died as she was dragged by a vehicle following a hit-and-run case involving a two-wheeler and a four-wheeler.

According to reports, the incident took place in the morning hours of Sunday in the Sultanpuri region of the capital of the nation. A Maruti Suzuki Baleno with five onboard hit the woman's scooty following which she went under the car and the perpetrators continued to drive on for a long distance with her stuck in the underbody.

The police arrested all five persons who were onboard the vehicle and confiscated the vehicle as well. According to a report, the group has a ration shop owner, a driver and a credit card collection agent.

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena expresses his shock about the incident and informed that he was following the case. "Even as every possible support/help and beyond, to the family of the victim will be ensured, I appeal to all to not resort to opportunistic scavenging. Let's together work towards a more responsible and sensitive society," he tweeted.

Although the reports mention it to be a hit-and-run incident, the mother of the victim has alleged sexual assault and murder regarding the incident. She pointed out to the complete lack of clothes on the dead body when recovered. She also asked for a detailed investigation of the matter while seeking justice for her daughter.

Delhi Police had mentioned that they received a call at 3.24 AM mentioning that a body was being dragged by a car. Another call was received at 4.11 AM mentioning that a dead body was found laying on the road. After that, the police took necessary actions to recover the body as well as trace the perpetrators.

The woman has been survived by four sisters, two brothers and her mother. Her father passed away a few years back.
