COVID-19 vaccination Dry-run for all States, UTs on January 2, 2021

The planning for the vaccine introduction in all the states and UTs will be as per the operational guidelines issued by the Ministry on December 20

New Delhi: The central government has asked all the states and UTs to ensure successful preparedness for the vaccine rollout in order to prepare for the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine nationwide.

To review the preparedness at session sites for COVID-19 vaccination Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with Principal Secretaries (Health), National Health Mission (NHM), MDs along with other health administrators of all States/UTs through video conference.

The dry run will be conducted by all the State and UT governments on 2nd January 2021 (Saturday).

The operation is proposed to be conducted in at least 3 session sites in all State Capitals.

The purpose of the dry run for the introduction of COVID-19 vaccine is to assess operational feasibility of using Co-WIN application in field environment, to test the linkages between planning and implementation and to identify the challenges and lead the way forward prior to actual implementation.

The introduction of the vaccine will be planned as per the operational guidelines issued by the Health Ministry on December 20.

The concerned medical officer in-charge will identify 25 test beneficiaries (healthcare workers) in each of the three Session Sites.

States / UTs have been asked to ensure that the data of these beneficiaries is uploaded in Co-WIN. These beneficiaries will be available on the session site for dry runs.

This would be the second dry run in the country.The first round of the dry run was already conducted on December28-29 this month which include Assam,Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab.

The dry run across the country comes amid anticipation of a launch of a vaccine in the New Year.

The virtual meeting was presented by Ms. Vandana Gurnani, AS&MD (NHM), Dr Manohar Agnani, Addl Secy (H), Shri Lav Agarwal, JS and other senior officers.
