Eight Including Journalist Stripped At Police Station In Madhya Pradesh

A group of men went into the police station protesting against one Neeraj Kunder who was arrested for using abusive language against a BJP MLA from Sudhi district.

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, eight men including a journalist were allegedly stripped down to undergarments at Madhya Pradesh police station.

Reportedly, the incident took place on Monday 2 April in the Kothwali police station which is in the Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh.

The incident came to light after a picture of a group of men stripped and standing against a wall of a police station was shared on social media platforms.

One of the men among the eight persons seen in the photo is a freelance journalist who said that he and his companion were detained by police when they went to the police station to ask about their friend named Neeraj Kunder.

According to the statement by the journalist, Neeraj Kunder is a theatre artist who was earlier held for using offensive language against a BJP MLA and his son.

As per reports, the group of men including a reporter was arrested as they were protesting against the arrest of Kunder.

One of the police officials stated that these persons sat on the road protesting which resulted in the disturbance of public movement in the area therefore they were kept behind bars.

On speaking with the media, the journalist said that he along with a cameraman went to the police station to enquire about Kunder as his father requested to do so.

Kedarnath Shukla, the BJP legislator from Sidhi district had lodged an FIR against the theatre artist on the basis on which police arrested him earlier this week.

The journalist claimed that he was targeted for filing a report against the BJP MLA after the arrest of Kunder who was in lockup for more than 17 hours and faced extreme torture as he was badly beaten up by police.

As the matter draw attention after the pictures surfaced on the internet, two officials including the SI (Sub-Inspector) in charge and the police station in-charge in the Kothwali Sidhi PS were suspended.

Sidhi SP Mukesh Srivasthav said that a probe has been ordered to find out who forced the group of men to remove their clothes as seen in the photos and also directed an inquiry for the authenticity of those pictures.
